Doesn't England realize that they play better without Lampard?

I'm not a fan of England by any stretch of the imagination but I did watch the England game against Bulgaria......I was very impressed by Defoe of course (he had three goals) but I thought Milner and Johnson looked pretty good as well. Now the central partnership of Gerrard (fav english player) and Barry looked pretty solid to me unlike when Lampard (overrated) plays with Gerrard and they get in each other's way!
